The Network | Objectives
Since it is essential to promote better integrated strategies and water management policies and to improve knowledge exchange in the field of water reuse among European and Mediterranean countries, the network envisages the following activities:
To consolidate a highly experienced Working Group in the Mediterranean basin, with a view to fostering technology transfer from North to South, provision of European and Mediterranean guidelines, exchange of technical staff, provision of training programmes and organisation of seminars and related events.
To enhance Co-operation between European and Mediterranean authorities, National and local institutions, policy makers, academic experts, professionals, end users, and others involved in water reuse.
To raise Public Awareness of the importance of water reuse as part of an integrated resources management.
To increase the Capacity Building of governments adopting suitable legislation aimed at integrated water management that involves the community at the regional level, users and user associations as well as organisations responsible for water.
To identificate successful experiences that suitably re-elaborated could serve as reference for benchmarking studies on Best Practices/strategies concerning absorption and adaptation of technology to other contexts/problems and users' needs.
To develop institutional and management capacities to absorb Technology Transfer, and its adaptation to appropriate and economically feasible solutions for specific contexts/problems.
This network of experts not only helps to reinforce European countries cooperation as it includes professionals from countries like France, Greece, Italy, Portugal, Spain or Belgium, but it also contributes to enhance co-operation among these and other countries in the Mediterranean basin like Egypt, Morocco, Israel, Tunisia or Turkey. The network has begun to spread overseas reaching such distant countries like Canada, USA and Australia allowing European experts having access to knowledge and expertise existing elsewhere in the world.
