Med-Reunet II | Objectives
Med-Reunet II has been designed to give network members the opportunity to strength capacities, exchange information and know-how (obtaining a dossier with the state of the art in Mediterranean countries), transfer of scientific and technological knowledge (establishment of better scenarios in order to apply EC 271/91 directive about urban wastewater treatment), and awareness raising (promotion of consumers acceptability, consideration of the public into a global policy in wastewater reclamation). In this way the objectives are:
To implement a Support Programme for strengthening the capacity of Med-Reunet professionals.
To publish Added Value Knowledge Reports that will be written by the Support Programme participants, providing the network with the following information:
- The creation of a dossier containing collection methodologies of the data and information available on water recycling

- The reviewing of the existing relevant information and technologies worldwide

- The collection and evaluation of the scientific information available in the Mediterranean countries in this subject

- The development of standards and/or guidelines of water recycling and reuse in Mediterranean countries

- The development of a methodology and training material and tools for target groups involved on wastewater and reuse scenarios.
To organize a Workshop that will be held in Barcelona in January 2005 to show works produced during the co-operation to interested stakeholders implicated in wastewater reuse.
It is important to highlight that the project puts special emphasis in promoting trans-national flow of knowledge, technological expertise and capacity building as a result of this cooperation towards third country organizations specially those placed in the South and East of the Mediterranean basin.

This initiative will not only help Third Mediterranean countries' organizations in their attempt to assist their countries in reaching a higher development status by means of having access to the latest technology and knowledge offered by organizations from richer countries with a higher investment on research, but also allow the European research community to benefit from the knowledge and expertise of third country institutions acquired from the experience of dealing with a specific problem in a specific context.

The cooperation and integration provided by the Med-Reunet project will contribute to create a good environment for the establishment of a free-trade area according to the Euromediterranean agreements beyond 2010.
